Journal
At the risk of going against the flow; I found Dark Knight to be grossly underwhelming. Heath Ledger's (may he rest in peace) performance was, without a shred of doubt; incredible. All the reviews are right, Ledger literally became the Joker. He was amazing. It really was like I was watching the Joker. The manneurisms, the attempts at giving justification for having the scars on his mouth....fantastic. Very different from how the Joker behaved when Nicholson played the Joker, but incredible nonetheless. However, the rest of the movie REEKED.
There was too much going on at once, scenes transitioned to different scenes right after they began, Christian Bale's performance was rancid and the movie showed neither Batman, nor the Joker often enough. The whole movie was lieutenant Gordon this, Harvey Dent that, Harvey's bitch this, some Chinese banker that.
The story was an entire trip of "what the fuck is going on?" and I have absolutely no clue why the movie got such raving reviews. I tell a lie, its probably because of Ledger's death.
I think I might have had a better chance at "getting it" if I wasn't half-assed drunk prior to sitting down with a bag of popcorn for it.
